GEORGE METZGER George Metzger (b. 1939, USA) was involved with the underground comix scene in the California Bay Area of the 1960s and early 1970s. He was originally from Illinois but has lived in California since he was six years old. Metzger started contributing to fanzines and an underground newspaper in the early 1960s before serving in the National Guard for a while. By the mid1960s, he was a production printer at Hambley Studios in Santa Clara. Metzger additionally specialized in fantasy comics, and created Moondog, an underground comic which ran through Print Mint from 1969 until 1973. He also contributed to Gothic Blimp Works and Bill Spicer's Graphic Story Magazine, as well as the comic Laugh in the Dark in 1971. In 1978, Kitchen Sink Press published his Mu, the Land that Never Was. George Metzger later went into animation, working for studios in Vancouver, such as Marv Newland's International Rocketship Limited. |
